EU FP7 Bridge-BSR

Association of Biotechnology of Latvia (ABL) as ScanBalt EU co-funded project „Bridging Life Science Research and SME’s in the Baltic Sea Reagion Putting Cluster Policies into Practise for the Benefit of SME’s” (in short Bridge – BSR) partner is since October 2007. The coordinator of the Project is Peter Frank ScanBalt - General Secretary.

Bridge-BSR aims are to bridge academic research and SME’s within life sciences and biotechnology in the Baltic Sea Region – the ScanBalt BioReagion. ScanBalt BioRegion is composed of Life Science and biotechnology actors in the Nordic countries, Baltic, Poland, Northern part of Germany and North western of Russia. The ScanBalt BioRegion has 11 countries and 85 million people, more than 60 universities and 2149 life science/biotech companies.

The Project consists of 7 work packages. ABL participate in almost all work packages by supporting with information about LATVIA.

The task of ABL within the frame work of this Project was organization of official kick-off meeting. The kick-off meeting took place from 6 – to 7 March 2008 in Riga.
